Eddie “Butch” Wilson, 75, of Swedesburg, died Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at his residence.
The funeral service for Butch Wilson will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the US Navy Burial Detail and Henry County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. The family will be present to receive friends from 5-7 PM Friday evening.

Eddie was born July 30, 1945 in Mt. Pleasant. He was the son of Joseph John and Arlene E. (Crab) Wilson. He married Sherry Loverage and later married Georgia Bauser. On July 29, 1995 in Mt. Pleasant, Eddie was united in marriage to Lila Ann Holtz.
Butch was a 1964 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. While in school, Butch was a very gifted athlete, especially in football and track. He was a member of the mythical State Champion undefeated and unscored upon Mt. Pleasant High School Football Team of 1963. Right after high school, Butch entered the United States Navy. He entered the Navy on October 26, 1964 and served on the USS Talbot County, an armored vehicle transport ship. He was honorably discharged from active duty to the US Naval Reserves on the USS Hermitage at Little Creek, VA on Oct. 18,1966.
Butch’s worked as a Forklift Driver for J.I. Case in Burlington where he also served as a Union Committeeman. He loved to fish and in earlier years, hunt and trap. He put his athletic skills to use in coaching kids in baseball at several early levels. He was very involved in his Native American Heritage, tracing it to the Cherokee Tribe in Clay County, Kentucky. Butch spent untold hours at the Rutledge Flea Market in Missouri, buying and selling, but mostly just being with the people there. He treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and their families.
Those thankful for sharing in Butch’s life include his wife Lila of Swedesburg; 3 children – Teresa (Steve) Voyles of Burlington, Shelli (Chad) Hendricks of Mt. Pleasant and Patrick Wilson of Plano, TX; 2 step children – Monica (Richard) Bennett of Mt. Pleasant and Steven (Melanie) Tennant of Peoria, IL; a brother, Bob (Vicki) Wilson of Mt. Pleasant; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
His parents, first wife Sherry, a brother – Art Wilson and a sister, JoAnn Hand, precede Butch in death
