Ron Canby of Ballwin, Missouri passed into eternal life on the evening of July 4, 2021 at his family farm in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Ron was born in Mount Pleasant in 1941 and spent the last 50+ years of his life in the St. Louis area. In 1964, he graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with a bachelor’s degree. He joined Bull Moose Tube in 1976 and retired from there as Vice President of Materials in 2007.
In retirement, Ron’s many pursuits included caring for his beloved family farm, fostering puppies, coordinating reunions for Olds High School (his alma mater in Olds, Iowa) and attending annual IndyCar races in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Ron participated in several international mission trips to Cambodia and Haiti and at Quest Church, he served as a volunteer in multiple ways, most of which involved children. Ron loved caring for wild birds and squirrels, and he never failed to greet a pup he met. His big heart and ready laugh brightened the days of everyone who knew and loved him. Ron never knew a stranger and never failed to help if he saw a need.
