Peter B. Salzman, 83, of rural Wayland, IA, was found at his residence on Thursday, April 15, 2021 to have passed away the previous day.
A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at the Salzman Family Plot at Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. The Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, is assisting Pete’s family with the arrangements. Online condolences may be directed to www.kimzeyfuneralhome.com.
Peter Brent Salzman was born October 25, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He was the son of Arthur Taylor and Frances Dana (Crane) Salzman. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in in 1955 and attended 2 years at Iowa State University in Ames.
Pete served 2 tours of duty in the United States Army. He entered the service on November 2, 1957, released to the US Army Reserves at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin on August 7, 1962 and honorably discharged from duty on July 31, 1963.
After his military service, Pete began his life long occupation as a farmer who farmed the home place for over 40 years.
Survivors include 2 sisters – Ann (Ernest) Farrier of Parma, OH and Joan (Norman) Crowe of South Bend, IN and a nephew – David Farrier of Kernersville, NC.
Pete’s parents precede him in death.
