Michael James Allen

Michael J. Allen, 55, of Iowa City, was found at his residence on Thursday, August 27, 2020 to have passed away a few days earlier. It has been determined that Mike died of natural causes.

A private family gathering and interment will be held at a later date at the New Virginia Cemetery, New Virginia, IA. Cremation has been entrusted to the Kimzey Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. On line condolences may be left at www.kimzeyfuneralhome.com.

            Michael James Allen was born September 12, 1964 in Fairfield, IA. He was the son of Jimmy Everett and Beverly Ann (Harris) Allen. He moved with his family to Iowa City when he was young. Mike graduated from City High of Iowa City in 1983.

            Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Army

            Following his military service, Mike worked at various manufacturing facilities. He lived in Boone, IA for a period of time where he worked for the Archway Cookie Company. He returned to Iowa City and was a longtime employee of Loprex Manufacturing.  

            In his spare time, Mike was an extremely gifted artist. He avidly read, mostly Science Fiction books. He also enjoyed gaming.

            Survivors include 2 brothers – Terry Allen and his wife Megan and K.C. Allen, all of Riverside, IA, and 2 nephews and a niece – Tyler, Jacob and Kylie Allen.

            Mike’s parents precede him in death.
