A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, is caring for Marilyn’s family.

Marilyn Elaine McKim was born October 10, 1951 in Mt. Pleasant. She was the daughter of Roger Kendall and Lorene Ruth (Buck) McKim. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1969. She furthered her studies in bookkeeping at the (then) Indian Hills Technical School in Ottumwa and later at Southeastern Community College in Burlington. On November 8, 1969 at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Marilyn was united in marriage to Rex Allan Hite.

Marilyn began a lengthy career in bookkeeping, first with Smith & Holtkamp Accounting and later with TDT Accountants and Financial Advisors, PC. She retired in December of 2016.

Marilyn was very gifted in any craft involving thread and cloth, including sewing, macrame and embroidery. She made 2 Sweet-Sixteen dresses for her granddaughters to wear at Midwest Old Threshers. Marilyn loved to garden both in flowers and vegetables. She canned much of what she raised in her garden. Canning was not her only skill in the kitchen, as she was well noted by her family for her baking. Marilyn also displayed her handiwork in the pieces of furniture she refinished, which she learned on her own.

Pleasant; 3 children – Lori (Chad) Zickefoose of Ozark, MO, Emily (Matt) Schinstock of Salem and Joshua Hite of New London; a bonus daughter – Marci (Jason) Carter of Ozark, MO; her best friend, Judy Zickefoose of Camdenton, MO 2 sisters – Martha Hofstad of Mt.
