George A. Meth, 64, of Swedesburg, IA, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Meth has donated his body to the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology of the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. A memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date. The Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

George Alan Meth was born December 10, 1949 in Fairfield, IA. He was the son of Robert Irvin and Ruth Allene (nee Charles) Meth. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1968.
George made his career in the United States Navy. He entered the Navy from Ft. Des Moines on November 28, 1969. He was primarily involved with navigation systems on submarines, serving on the USS George Bancroft. He was honorably discharged on January 13, 1978 at the Naval Base in Groton, CT. He became a partner in a small electronics supply and repair business. George re-enlisted on June 5, 1980. He served again as an Inertial Navigation Systems Technician aboard the USS Woodrow Wilson and the USS Daniel Boone. George literally toured the world during his time in the Navy. He was honorably discharged as an ETCS (SS) at the Charleston Naval Base on June 30, 1992. Throughout his career, George was the recipient of numerous medals, ribbons and awards.
Following his retirement from the Navy, George moved from Summerville, SC to California. He returned to the Henry County area in 1996. In his time back in Henry County, George worked for Mike Vincent and Kelly Overton in their businesses of countertop installation and carpentry.
George was as avid HO Train hobbyist. He took many road trips to attend multitudes of train shows and conventions. He also maintained collections of other memorabilia. He enjoyed family gatherings and especially the card games they played at them.
Those thankful for sharing in George's life include 2 brothers and their wives, Robert L. & Mae Meth of Van Buren AR and Ray & Ruth Meth of Olds; 1 sister, Deborah J. Derby of Swedesburg, IA; 29 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
His parents and 2 brothers - Jim and Gary Meth precede George in death.
