Doyce A. "Al" Munyon, 70, of Fairfield, and formerly of Omaha, NE, died Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
The funeral service for Al Munyon will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 13 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. Pastor Guy Sammons of the Rome Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery, rural Rome, IA. Friends may call from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Fri., May 12 at the funeral home. The family will be present to receive friends from 5-7 PM Friday evening.

Doyce Allen "Al" Munyon was born August 31, 1946 in Leon, IA. He was the son of Dennis Dean and Marvel Louese (Robison) Munyon. Al moved with his family and attended school in Creston and Audubon, IA. He graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1964. On May 1, 1982 in Reinbeck, IA, Al was united in marriage to Tanya Marie Sammons.
For 25 years, Al was a musician with United Artists of America. He was a guitarist and lead singer for different bands, traveling across the United States and Canada. During his career, he played in the noted bands of Wilson Pickett and Jeannie C. Riley. Towards the end of musician career, Al enrolled in the Computer Programming program of Southeastern Community College in West Burlington. He left the music field and became a computer programmer and analyst. For 35 years, he was a contract programmer for multiple companies in the Omaha, NE area where he resided. In retirement, he moved to Fairfield, IA approximately 5 years ago. Although officially retired, Al was often called upon by the companies he had previously served to assist in their computer difficulties.
Being inside with careers in music and computers, Al loved spending his free time being outdoors to fish and hunt.
Those thankful for sharing in Al's life include his wife Tanya of Fairfield; 6 children - Shawn Munyon of Des Moines, IA, Geri Jepson and her husband Brent of Ankeny, IA, Lana Popejoy and husband Keith of Nevada, IA, Lindsey Deters and husband Noah of Nevada, Tina Munyon and fiancé Ben Brown of Omaha, NE and Traci Munyon and fiancé Tyler Hunt of Fairfield; 1 brother and his wife - Marvin & Carol Munyon of Janesville, WI; 1 sister and her husband - Marveta & Clarke Davis of Valley Falls, KS and 12 grandchildren - Josh Munyon, Summer Munyon, Bri Fowler, Kyle Jepson, Devin Munyon, Ian Jepson, Caleb Popejoy, Cameron Popejoy, Mikayla Deters, McKennna Brown, Kaiden Brown and Wesley Hunt.
His parents and a son-in-infancy, Roger Allen Munyon, precede Al in death.
