Carol Lynn (McNiel) Dustman

Carol Lynn Dustman, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, October 18, 2021 at Park Place, Mt. Pleasant.  

A memorial service for Carol will be held at 11 AM on June 23, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant. The Rev. David Bracht-Wagner will officiate. Friends are invited to a luncheon and celebration of Carol's life in the church's Fellowship Hall immediately following the memorial service.

She was born June 23, 1954, in Vinton, Iowa to Clarence Bertram and Doris Maurine Williams McNiel.  On June 29, 2002 she married Gary E. Dustman in Cedar Rapids.

She was a 1972 graduate of Center Point High School, then attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated from Mount Mercy College.  For more than 40 years she worked as a Quality Inspector at Rockwell Collins.

Carol was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant where she previously sang in the choir. She enjoyed wine, cooking, music and attending concerts, being with friends and family, and traveled with her husband Gary to over twenty national parks. 

Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, Robert McNiel of Midway, Kentucky; sisters Nancy (Jim) Willert of Frankfort, Kentucky and Opal McNiel of Marion, Iowa; nieces, nephews, 1 great niece and great nephews; and her sister-in-law Paula Curran of Burlington and her three children.  Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers, Richard and Dale.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant and National Parks Conservation Association.
