Sharon K. Vaughn, 69, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Per Sharon's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. The Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Mrs. Vaughn, the former Sharon Kay Steward, was born May 21, 1946 at home in rural Mt. Pleasant. She was the daughter of Carroll Clark and Opal Irene (McGraw) Steward. She attended school in Mediapolis, IA. On April 6, 1963 in Morning Sun, IA, Sharon married Larry Lester Keck. The couple divorced in 1978. On June 11, 1982 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant, Sharon married Richard Kenneth "Dick" Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn died Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at their residence in Mt. Pleasant. Sharon was a launder for Iris City Cleaners in Mt. Pleasant. She retired in 2014. She loved to be with her family, especially being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Those thankful for sharing in Sharon's life include a son, Monte Keck of Mt. Pleasant; 4 daughters and their husbands - Brenda & Emmett McDowell of Salem, IA, Shelby & Paul Kinney and Debra & James Volner all of Mt. Pleasant and Kim & Darren Morris of Middletown, IA; 2 brothers - Gary Steward of Mt. Pleasant and Ronnie Steward of Mediapolis; 5 sisters - Charlotte Vigue & husband Don of Lewiston, ID, Carol Keck of New London, IA, Connie Palmer & her husband Francis of Atalissa, IA, and Nancie Steward and Susie Steward, both of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A brother, Merle Steward, 2 sisters - Sandy Steward and Anna Mae Steward and a sibling in infancy precede Sharon in death.
