Robert D. Vaughn, 65, of Mt. Pleasant, IA and formerly of Wichita Falls, TX, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. A funeral service for Mr. Vaughn will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 27th at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main St., Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, January 26th at the funeral home. The family will be present to receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday evening. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service, with burial at a later date in the Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Robert Dean Vaughn was born September 4, 1950 in Mount Pleasant. He was the son of Harold Milton and Pearl Irene (Greist) Vaughn. He moved with his family as a child and graduated from Iowa Park (Texas) High School in 1969. On January 19, 1987 in Wichita Falls, TX, Robert was united in marriage to Delores Gail Pash. Shortly after high school, Bob returned to Iowa and worked for the former Metromail Corporation in Mt. Pleasant. He returned to Texas where he first worked for the Levi Strauss Company. For 36 and a half years, Bob was employed by the Cryovac Corporation, specializing in plastic vacuum sealing. He retired and returned to Iowa in 2014. Bob was well known in Texas as a musician with several country bands. He played bass and rhythm guitars and sang vocals. Bob played for a whole host of different events. He especially loved playing for charity events to raise money for various causes. When not involved in music, Bob enjoyed watching football, especially the Chicago Bears, NASCAR, cheering for Tony Stewart and wrestling on TV. Those thankful for sharing in Bob's life include his wife Delores of Mt. Pleasant; 4 sons - Tony Bunker of Mesa, AZ, Michael Vaughn of Burkburnett, TX and Tommy and David Gallagher, both of Wichita Falls, TX; 3 brothers and their wives - Rick & Karen Vaughn of San Angelo, TX, George & Anna Vaughn of Wapello, IA and Darrell & Cheryl Vaughn of Mt. Pleasant; 4 sisters - Ramona Simmons & Dalena Vaughn, both of Mt. Pleasant, Patricia Palmer & her husband Faylon of Winfield, IA and Jean Duncan of Stronghurst, IL and 4 grandchildren; His parents, a brother - Richard Vaughn, 2 sisters - Shirley McDowell and Roberta Vaughn and 1 grandson precede Robert in death.
