Michael Joseph Bonser, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at his residence under the care of Southeast Iowa Hospice.

Mike was born November 11, 1958 in Mt. Pleasant. He was the son of Jerry Lee and Annabelle (Sizemore) Bonser. Mike later moved with his family to Joliet, Il, where he attended elementary school and graduated from Joliet West High School The family returned to Mt. Pleasant, where Mike graduated from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.

Mike had worked for the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Mt. Pleasant. He was also involved in the operation of a cleaning company, Right Way Cleaning. In his spare time, Mike was a very gifted and avid artist and drawer.

Survivors include his daughters – Brenda Grullon and her husband Anthony of Tampa, FL, Kristi Bonser of Tampa, FL and Allie Smith and her husband Kelton of Washington, IA; a son, Cody Johnson; Mike’s girlfriend, Linda Blansett of Mt. Pleasant and his grandchildren – Nevaeh Grullon, Mekaela Grullon, Zidon Grullon, Enzo Grullon, Brody Risch, Ryland Smith and Holly Smith.

His parents and a brother, Rick Hand, precede Mike in death.

A private family graveside service will be held in the Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, IA at a later date.
