Meta F. Brown, 95, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Brown, the former Meta F. Moyle, was born October 25, 1917 in rural Hillsboro, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank Ferree and Nina (Mogel) Moyle. Meta began her education at school in Salem. She then attended grade schools in rural Henry and Van Buren County. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1936. On December 3, 1942 in Mt. Pleasant, Meta was united in marriage to Rex Ralph Brown. Mr. Brown died Friday, April 14, 2006 at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant. Prior to her marriage, Meta was a housekeeper for the Seeley family and others in the community. After her marriage, Meta and Rex farmed together until they retired and moved into Mt. Pleasant in 1998. Meta was a member of Cedar Creek Friends Church. She previously taught Sunday School at the Salem Friends Church. She belonged to the Farm Bureau and the SNT's, a local group of friends. She loved to tend to her yard and garden. Meta always had a soft spot in her heart for caring for animals. Those thankful for sharing in Meta's life include two sons - Gary Brown and his wife Marlene Belzer of Mediapolis and Ralph Brown of Dallas Center, IA; a daughter - Mary Ann Brown of Burlington; 2 granddaughters - Jennifer Crull and her husband Matthew of Mt. Pleasant and Joni Brown of Mt. Pleasant and 2 great granddaughters - Elizabeth and Emma Crull of Mt. Pleasant. Her parents, husband and 2 brothers - Richard and Keith Moyle precede Meta in death.
