Margaret E. "Margie" O'Brien, 90, of the Sunrise Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Winfield, IA and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service for Margie O'Brien will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 24 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. Father Bruce DeRammelaere will officiate. Burial with be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be directed to www.kimzeyfuneralhome.com Mrs. O' Brien, the former Margaret Edith O'Halloran, was born June 10, 1925 in Clinton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dennis and Edith (O'Hearn) O'Halloran. Margie attended Catholic boarding school following the death of her parents and graduated from Mt. St. Clare High School in Clinton in 1943. On August 27, 1945 at St. Irenaus Catholic Church in Clinton, Margie was united in marriage to James Thomas "Tom" O'Brien. Mr. O'Brien died October 13, 1981 in Mt. Pleasant. Margie resided in Clinton, Washington, MO and Watseka, IL prior to moving to Mt. Pleasant. She was a receptionist for Drs. Peterson and Rankin. After working at the doctors' office, Margie became an Avon Lady. She ran a very successful Avon operation, being named to Avon's President's Club. She continued her Avon work while accepting a position as the switchboard operator for the Mt. Pleasant Mental Health Institute. She retired in 1991. Margie was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the St. Alphonsus Altar & Rosary Society. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Information Desk of the Henry County Health Center. She held a great love for cats and the Iowa Hawkeyes Football Team. Those thankful for sharing in Margie's life include 3 children - Michael O'Brien of Seattle, WA, Thomas O'Brien of Mt. Pleasant and Patricia Bush and her husband Craig of Monticello, IL; 5 grandchildren - Jacob (Katrina) Bush, Joseph (Lori) Bush and Keelan, Colin and Elizabeth O'Brien and 4 great grandchildren - Eleanor Bush, Hunter & Zeth Miller and Phoenix O'Brien. Her parents, husband and 2 sisters - Jane Wyatt and Mary Genevieve Kieffer precede Margie in death.
