H. Lorraine Jennings, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, September 03, 2012 at Sunnybrook at Ashford Park in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service for Lorraine Jennings will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 8 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 803 East Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant. The Reverend Michael Hess, Senior Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 9:00 PM on Friday at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. The family will be present to receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday evening. Online condolences may be sent to www.KimzeyFH.com Mrs. Jennings, the former Harriet Lorraine Long, was born August 3, 1921 in Mt. Pleasant. She was the daughter of Max Earl and Stella Marguerite (Abrahamson) Long. She attended school in Mt. Pleasant. On September 8, 1936 in Kahoka, MO, Lorraine was united in marriage to Melvin Howard Jennings. Mr. Jennings died Monday, November 19, 2001 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Jennings was the bookkeeper for Jennings Dairy, which her husband and his brother Ralph operated. For 3 years, Lorraine drove a route for the dairy. For 14 years, Lorraine worked in the cafeteria and was a dietary aide for the Henry County Health Center of Mt. Pleasant. Much of Lorraine's pastime involved her church, Calvary Baptist. For 60 years, she was a member of the Tuesday Calling Group, which called on church visitors and new members of the community. She often took part in bible study, Sunday school and the women's activities of the church. She dearly loved time with her family. For many years, Lorraine was also a very adept in crochet work. Those thankful for sharing in Lorraine's life include a son and his wife, James and Janet Jennings of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter and her husband, Donna and John Knedler of Weslaco, TX; a brother and his wife, Donald and Joyce Long of Mt. Pleasant; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Long of Colorado Springs, CO; 6 grandchildren - Bob Jennings, Lori Bolin and her husband Greg, Cathy Johnson and her husband Kent, Belinda Nichols, Steve Olson and Ed Jennings and his wife Erin; 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, 1 sister, Lula Sodegren, 1 great grandson, Ryan Nichols and 1 great granddaughter, Stephanie Jennings, precede Lorraine in death.
