Dr. Genaro Lopez Salazar (November 13, 1947) passed away July 14, 2023 in his home in Mt. Pleasant. Genaro was able to spend his final days with his wife Linda and his sons Mateo, Marco and Lucas.

Dr. Salazar was an extremely intelligent man; from modest beginnings in Eloy, AZ to becoming the first Mexican to graduate Medical School in Minnesota, and finally raising his family in Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa.We learned how to play guitar from Dad, drive a car, explore abandoned houses, speak some Spanish, follow our curiosities until we arrive at answers, and do so with an off-beat humor all the while.  Even in his final days, life was best approached with a healthy sense of humor.  We'll carry this with us as best we can...

Thank you for everything, Dad.  We love and miss you.
