The Reverend Father Leo Armand LeBlanc, age 78, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Father Leo was born on March 31, 1948, in Nashua, New Hampshire, the son of Leo and Laura LeBlanc. He graduated from Nashua High School before discerning a vocation to the priesthood. He studied philosophy at St. Thomas College in Bloomfield, Connecticut, and continued his studies at Saint Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree.

Father Leo was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Manchester on May 25, 1974, in Manchester, New Hampshire.

During more than fifty years of faithful priestly ministry, Father Leo served in several parishes throughout New Hampshire. Most recently, he served as Pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Plymouth, New Hampshire, for eighteen years until his retirement in 2022. Throughout his ministry, Father Leo remained deeply devoted to prayer and faithfully served the people entrusted to his pastoral care.

Father Leo was known for his lifelong dedication and commitment to Scouting. As a young man, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout, beginning a lifelong connection to the Scouting movement. He later served as the United States National Chaplain for the National Catholic Committee on Scouting, a role that took him throughout the United States. His dedication to Catholic Scouting eventually led him to serve as World Chaplain for the International Catholic Conference of Scouting. Through this ministry, Father Leo traveled the world, visiting more than forty countries and setting foot on every continent.

Father Leo enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of New Hampshire. An accomplished hiker, he climbed all forty-eight of New Hampshire’s 4,000-foot peaks and was recognized by the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Four Thousand Footer Club. He continued skiing through the age of 78 and loved splashing in New Hampshire’s cold lakes and ocean, as well as canoeing, boating.and ice skating. Father Leo sought every opportunity to be outdoors, finding joy and peace in the beauty of God’s creation.

Father Leo was also an avid reader and spoke both French and English. He was skilled in sign language, which further reflected his desire to connect with and serve others. In his later years, he enjoyed taking cruises to warmer climates. Following his retirement, Fr. Leo moved to Mt. Pleasant, IA, to be near his brother. During his time in Mt. Pleasant, Fr. Leo became a member of the Mt. Pleasant Evening Rotary Club and concelebrated Mass at St. Alphonsus.

Beyond his many accomplishments and years of ministry, Father Leo will be remembered most for his love of life and his jovial personality. He was a devoted and present brother, uncle, and friend who treasured time spent with those he loved. His warmth, kindness, humor, and joyful spirit touched the lives of his family, friends, parishioners, and the countless people he encountered throughout his life and ministry.

Father Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Laura LeBlanc, and his sister, Elaine Goss.

He is survived by his brother, Donald LeBlanc and his wife, Sara, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; and his five nephews and two nieces: Matthew (Chantile) Heck of Concord, New Hampshire; Joshua Heck of Belleville, Illinois; Laura (Richard) Coleman of Epping, New Hampshire; Walter (Anna) Goss of Deerfield, New Hampshire; Isaac (Gwen) LeBlanc of Garden City, Kansas; Hannah (Adam) Sturm of Fairfield, Iowa; and Xachary LeBlanc of Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews who loved their Uncle Leo dearly and will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock Street, Nashua, New Hampshire.

The Funeral Mass for Fr. Leo will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday, September 16th at St. Louis Parish Church with burial will immediately follow in the family plot at the St. Louis Parish Cemetery.

In Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the morning Mass will be celebrated in honor of Fr. Leo at 8:30 AM on Thursday, September 24 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 607 South Jackson Street. A continental breakfast 8:30 will be served directly after the Mass. Friends and Family are invited to the Mass and/or the breakfast.
