Ethel S. (Mrs. Charles) Parker, 90, of New London and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center. A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Parker will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 23 at the Salem East Cemetery, Salem, IA, where interment will take place. The Reverend Jeffrey A. McPheron, Pastor, Trenton & Wesley Chapel United Methodist Churches, will officiate. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 1:30 PM on Friday at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. The family will be present to receive friends at that time. She was the daughter of Jesse David and Lura May (nee Caruthers) Trout. She graduated from Winfield High School. On August 8, 1946 in Winfield, Ethel was united in marriage to Charles Ellis Parker. Mr. Parker died August 7, 1995. For 18 years, Ethel was an assembly line worker at Heatilator Industries in Mt. Pleasant. She had also work at Metromail. Ethel enjoyed the outdoors, most especially camping, fishing and time in the cabin. She was fond of sitting and solving word-search puzzles and assembling jigsaw puzzles. Mrs. Parker was of the Methodist faith. Those thankful for sharing in her life include 3 daughters - Coty Parker and Mary Kay Helmick, both of New London and Bea McDowell and her husband Ron of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, William Trout of Marion, IA; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 "adopted" grandchild. Her parents, husband, and 5 sisters, Glendean Sexton, Lois Larson, Edith Lance, Ruth Metcalf and Mary Trout precede Ethel in death.
