Arline W. (Mrs. Robert) Sampson, 94, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, January 06, 2015 at the Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service for Mrs. Sampson will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 10th at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. Pastor Shirley Spray of the Community of Christ Church, Mt. Pleasant will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakland Mills Cemetery, rural Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call from 1-7 PM on Friday at the Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until service time on Saturday. Mrs. Sampson, the former Arline Winona Flowers, was born March 30, 1920 in Wray, Colorado. She was the daughter of Nephi and Dora (nee Kester) Flowers. She graduated from Lamoni High School and attended a year at Graceland College in Lamoni. On July 27, 1947 in Lamoni, Arline was united in marriage to Robert Brewster "Bob" Sampson. Mrs. Sampson was employed by the former Metromail Corporation in Mt. Pleasant. She worked both on the production line and in the management offices. She retired from Metromail in the 1970's. She was a member of the Community of Christ church in Mt. Pleasant, serving as the church's pianist for many years. She loved music in a variety of ways. Often times, she enjoyed playing the piano for entertaining and relaxing. Arline was gifted in the kitchen, as she loved to cook and bake. She also held great fondness for quilting. Those thankful for sharing in Arline's life include her husband of 67 years, Robert of Mt. Pleasant; 3 sons - Ken and his wife Gloria of Slater, IA, Ed and his wife Geri of Ankeny, IA and Steven Sampson of Mt. Pleasant; a sister Dorothy Gutgsell and her husband Mark of Coeur 'D Alene, Idaho. Her parents, a twin sister - Pauline Rowan and another sister, Vera Davis, precede Arline in death.
