Obituary

Ann Farrier’s genealogical record closed October 28, 2026 in Parma, Ohio after a brief struggle with cancer. On December 3, 1933 she became the first child of farmer Arthur and school teacher Frances Salzman. The family farm, straddling Henry and Jefferson Counties in Iowa, was a good place to grow up despite frequent flooding from the adjacent Skunk River. Of Ann’s travels, most memorable was a pilgrimage with her father down that river to the great Mississippi and along the Gulf coast.

Ann was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. She was united in marriage to Ernest Gilbert Farrier. The couple later divorced but remained friends.

Love and her husband Ernest’s career led her away to Alabama, Tennessee, and finally Parma. She nearly completed a Bachelors Degree at the University of Alabama before devoting herself entirely to raising two sons, David and Andrew. As her children became more independent, Ann shifted attention to family history. In the days when digital records were scarce, she frequently took her children on data-gathering expeditions to cemeteries, some of which were well-curated and others a bit adventurous.

Ann is survived by her eldest son and retired optical engineer David Farrier, Kernersville North Carolina; her sister and retired draftsman Joan Crowe, South Bend Indiana; and numerous far-flung cousins whom she assisted tracing their own family trees.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, her son Andrew and her brother Peter Salzman.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 6, 2026 at the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The Reverend Court Fischer, Senior Pastor, First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant, will officiate. There will be no visitation.

The Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant, is caring for Ann and her family. Online condolences may be directed to www.kimzeyfh.com.
