Virginia K. Becker, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.
A funeral service for Virginia Becker will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 19 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. The Reverend David Plooster will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 18 at the funeral home. The family will be present to greet friends 1 hour prior to the funeral on Thursday.

Mrs. Becker the former Virginia Kudobe, was born October 24, 1926 in Mt. Pleasant. She was the daughter of Milo and Mildred (nee Townsend) Kudobe. She graduated from Salem High School, Salem, IA in 1943 and attended Iowa Wesleyan College for 2 years. On May 10, 1946 in Mt. Pleasant, Virginia was united in marriage to Frank John Becker. He precedes in death.
While her husband was stationed with the US Marine Corps in San Diego, CA, Virginia worked as a secretary for the R. Victor Venburg Insurance Agency and for Safeway Grocery Stores, Inc. Upon their return to Iowa, they farmed with his parents for 15 years before moving to Mt. Pleasant. Following their move, Virginia and her husband Co-owned and operated Becker Electronics. In addition to the electronics company, Virginia took a position as the Area Clerk for the Standard Oil of Indiana Area Office located in Mt. Pleasant. She later held positions as secretary for Scientific Applications, Inc. and Overseas Construction Services, both in Mt. Pleasant. For many years, Virginia was employed as the Secretary of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, from which she retired.
Virginia was a member of the Faith Christian Outreach Church of Mt. Pleasant. Virginia was gifted musically. She sang and played the Hawaiian Guitar, often with her husband Frank playing the acoustic guitar. She also enjoyed sewing and computers and was always game for a good practical joke.
Those thankful for sharing in Virginia's life include a daughter-in-law and her husband, Joyce Becker Koett and her husband Bob of Burlington, IA; 4 grandchildren and their spouses - Lisa & Aaron Shepler, Julie & Jason Lemon, Lloyd & Laura Duncan and Jill & Larry Royer; 17 great grandchildren - Jacob, Emily & Hannah Shepler, Melissa Cale, Michael Williams, Cody, Chris, Hanna, Heather, Haley, Brock & Rachel Duncan, Ashely & Nick Henkel, Richie & Alexa Shackleford and Gabby Roush and "special grandchildren', the daughters of Dave & Dawn Plooster - Kari, Katie, Anne & Amy.
Her parents, husband, her son - Gerald Dennis "Gerry" Barker, a brother - Keith Kudobe and a sister, Nadine Simpkin, precede Virginia in death.
