Ruth Seceilia Stigge, 86, of Chesterfield, MO and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, January 8, 2016 at her residence in Chesterfield.
A memorial funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21 at the Trenton United Methodist Church. Pastor Jeffrey A. McPheron will officiate. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery, rural West Burlington, IA. The family will receive friends at a luncheon in the church's Sunshine Room immediately following the memorial service.

Mrs. Stigge, the former Ruth Seceilia Anderson, was born February 21, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant. She was the daughter of Paul Weaver and Elsie Alvera (Kinney) Anderson. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. On June 14, 1947 at the former Beulah Methodist Church east of Mt. Pleasant, Ruth was united in marriage to Lile Walter Stigge. Mr. Stigge died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Ruth was a longtime homemaker while raising her family. For a period of time, Ruth was a secretary at Iowa Wesleyan University and Miller Detrick in Iowa City. With her husband, Ruth was a longtime resident of the St. Louis, MO area until returning to Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church and a former member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Clair, MO. She belonged to St. Louis Fless - a historical society in St. Louis. Ruth was a voracious reader and a devoted fan for the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team.
Those thankful for sharing in Ruth's life include a son and his wife, Daniel and Colleen Stigge of Winterville, NC; a daughter and her husband, Rhonda and James Blasé of Wentzville, MO; 2 sisters and their husbands, Miriam and Leo Bragg of Hendersonville, TN and Martha & Jerry Mabeus of Salem. IA; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Her parents and husband precede Ruth in death.
