Ruby A. Kitch, 94, of Mt. Pleasant, died peacefully Friday, June 24, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family.
The Requiem Holy Eucharist Service for Mrs. Kitch will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 28 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 202 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant. The Reverend Wayne K. Kamm will officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 9:00 PM on Monday, June 27 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. The family will be present to receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday evening.
Mrs. Kitch, the former Ruby Alliene Lamb, was born June 15, 1922 in Buckingham, Illinois. She was the youngest of 9 children. She received her education in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1941. On December 10, 1941 in Canton, MO, Ruby was united in marriage to Earl Warren Kitch. Mr. Kitch died April 2, 1998 at home in Mt. Pleasant.
For many years, Ruby worked at and was a supervisor for Motorola and Emerson Electric, both in Mt. Pleasant. She is still fondly remembered by many of her employees.
Ruby was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church and the Altar Guild of the church. She also volunteered numerous hours at the church. She will always be remembered for her beautiful hand-made quilts she made for all of her children and grandchildren. Everyone will remember and miss her wonderful pies and witty sense of humor.
Those thankful for sharing in Ruby's life include her 4 children - Linda Kitch Brock and her husband Reid of St. Petersburg, FL, Duane W. Kitch of South Padre Island, TX, Ralph W. Kitch and his wife Valerie of Cedar Rapids, IA and Mary Kitch Zerm and her husband Jerry of Southlake, TX; a son-in-law, Merrill Peterson of Indianapolis, IN; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents, husband, a daughter Carol Kitch Peterson, an infant son Paul Kitch, 3 brothers - Ray Emmett and Raymond and 5 sisters, Mary, Alice, Melissa, Esther and Laura precede Ruby in death.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at HCI Care Services, the Van Vorhies Haus and the Henry County Health Center.
