Roy W. Ingwersen, Sr., 64, of Denmark, IA, and formerly of Keosauqua and Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at his residence.
A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 3 at the White Oak Cemetery, rural Rome, IA, where interment will occur. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 9:00 PM Thursday at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation.

Roy Wayne Ingwersen, Sr. was born September 19, 1949 in Burlington, IA. HE was the son of Raymond Cornelius and Pauline Mae (nee Messer) Ingwersen. He grew up in the Mt. Pleasant area and attended Mt. Pleasant Community Schools. On Marcy 28, 1966 at the Bible Missionary Church in Mt. Pleasant, Roy was united in marriage to Carlene Lucille Hallowell. The couple later divorced.
Roy was a career military service person with the United States Marine Corps. He entered the Marines in 1968. He served as a warehouse clerk and a Supply Administration and Operations Clerk. He served in Vietnam and England. He last served with the 5th Battalion, 10th Marines, 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1985.
Upon his discharge, Roy returned to live in Mt. Pleasant. He then built a cabin in rural Keosauqua, IA, where he resided for about 15 years. In the mid 2000's he moved to Denmark. Roy enjoyed hunting and conversation with his family and friends.
Those thankful for sharing in Roy's life include his 4 children - Carl Ingwersen and his wife Sylvia and Roy Ingwersen, Jr., all of Mt. Pleasant, Chad Ingwersen and his wife Angela of Eldridge and Angel Ingwersen and her special friend Tom Mathews of Winfield; 2 brothers - Jerry Ingwersen and his wife Clara and Darrell Ingwersen, all of Mt. Pleasant; 3 sisters and their husbands - Janet & Jerry Miller of Connersville, IN, Deloris & Charles Wood of Malvern, AR and Martha & Lester Garrison of Rome, IA; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
His parents and three brothers, Roger Ingwersen, Sr., Randy "Moose" Ingwersen and an infant brother precede Roy in death.
