Monte L. Keck, 52, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Mr. Keck will be cremated per his wishes. A private family gathering will be held. There will be no public visitation or service. The Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Monte Lee Keck was born November 3, 1963 in Iowa City, IA. He was the son of Larry Lester and Sharon Kay (Steward) Keck Vaughn.
Monte received his education at the schools in Stanford, IL, Mediapolis and Winfield-Mt. Union. He had worked for Shipley Construction and Batey, Ltd. He had also been employed by the pallet company within the Wal-Mart Distribution Center. Most recently, Monte worked with his son at the Comfort Inn in Mt. Pleasant.
Monte loved being in the outdoors, primarily fishing and camping at Oakland Mills.
Those thank for sharing in Monte's life include 2 children - Jeffrey Herman of Mt. Pleasant and Heather Herman and special friend Ishmael Jackson of Mt. Pleasant; his father - Larry Keck of Mt. Pleasant; 4 sisters and their husbands - Shelby & Paul Kinney and Debra and James Volner, all of Mt. Pleasant; Brenda & Emmett McDowell of Salem and Kim & Darren Morris of Middletown; 3 grandchildren - Elijah and Noah Herman and Isabella Jackson as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
His mother precedes him in death.
