Jewell E. Wilson, 93, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
A memorial funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 5 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. Burial will be in the Bonaparte Cemetery, Bonaparte, IA. Friends may call to greet the family 1 hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.
Mrs. Wilson, the former Jewell Elizabeth Caudill, was born November 7, 1921 at home in rural Bonaparte, IA. She was the daughter of Charles Joel and Margaret Ella (nee Fletcher) Caudill. On May 7, 1940, Jewell was united in marriage to Paul Irvin Wilson. Mr. Wilson died May 4, 1974 in a cement truck/train accident east of Mt. Pleasant.
Jewell graduated from Bonaparte High School in 1938. She went on to what was then "Normal Training" to become a school teacher. She taught at the Nixon Country School near the Bonaparte area. She left teaching to begin raising her family. During that time, Mrs. Wilson worked at the Universal Glove Factory in Fairfield and Emerson Electric in Mt. Pleasant. For over 20 years, Jewell was employed at General Electric in Burlington. She built and installed wire harnesses and worked in the Tool Room of GE. Jewell retired in 1983.
Mrs. Wilson was a very gifted seamstress. She sewed and mended an untold number of clothes. Jewell was especially adept in fashioning wedding and bridesmaid's dresses. Those skills enabled her to do other types of cloth material work including crocheting, embroidery and knitting. When work with fabric did not occupy her time, Jewell loved to do crossword puzzles. Her family, however, was her favorite pastime. She loved get together with them for all sorts of dinners and events.
Those thankful for sharing in Jewell's life include her six children - Mrs. Juanita Ann Bowman of Mt. Pleasant, Jerry "Joe" Wilson and his wife Marlene of Moberly, MO, Christie Sue Reinier and her husband Harry "Bob" of Hillsboro, IA, Judy Lynn Newman and her special friend Thomas Griffin of Peyton, CO, Roger Wilson of Burlington and Tracy B. Wilson and his wife Neva of Burlington; 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Her parents, husband and 2 grandchildren precede Jewell in death.
