Janet Butterfield Obituary

Janet M. (Oldt) Butterfield, 64, of Allen Texas and formerly of Mt. Pleasant & Dubuque, IA and Geneseo, IL, died Monday, August 08, 2016 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Allen, TX.
A funeral service for Janet will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 13 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. The Reverend Deborah J. Stowers, Senior Pastor, First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant, will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakland Mills Cemetery, rural Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call from 2-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. The family will be present to receive friends from 5-7 PM on Friday. An additional family visitation and memorial prayer service will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, August 10 at the Suncreek United Methodist Church in Allen.

Mrs. Butterfield, the former Janet Marie Oldt, was born July 3, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant, IA. She was the daughter of F. Richard and Pauline Evelyn (Breazeale) Oldt. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1970. Janet was conferred with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Dubuque (Iowa). On April 6, 1974 at the Oakland Mills Community Church, rural Mt. Pleasant, Janet was united in marriage to William Roland "Bill" Butterfield.
During her college days and early marriage, Janet resided in the Dubuque area. Janet began her career as a Certified Public Accountant in Geneseo, IL, where she and her family resided for 22 years. She first was in the Accounting Dept. of Heatilator Manufacturing and then for 15 years with the Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo. For 8 years, she was also involved in public accounting with the United Way Agencies. The family moved to Lake Orion, MI in 2003, then to Allen, TX in 2008. During her time in Texas, Janet was a CPA with Home Health Services and Jewish Family Services of Dallas.
Janet was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Iowa State Certified Public Accountants (ISCPA). She and her family were very active members of the Suncreek United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Janet loved bird watching and gardening. She also enjoyed bicycling on a recreational level.
Those thankful for sharing in Janet's life include her husband of 42 years, Bill of Allen, TX; 2 sons - Kyle Butterfield and his wife Lindzy of Newport Beach, CA and Joel Butterfield of San Diego, CA; a brother Gary Oldt and his wife Nicola of Mt. Pleasant and 2 sisters - Sharon Oldt of Oelwein, IA and Thea Carufel and her husband Robert of Mesa, AZ.
Janet's parents precede her in death.
