Thomas Everett "Tom" Lynchard, Jr., 64, of Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Donnellson Health Center in Donnellson.
A funeral service for Tom Lynchard will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 19 at the Trenton United Methodist Church. Pastor Jeffrey A. McPheron will officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Friends amy call form 12 Noon to 9 PM on Friday, March 18 at the Kimzey funeral Home, 213 North Main St., Mt. Pleasant. The family will be present to receive friends from 6-8 PM. Friends are also invited to join the family in a meal prior to the funeral at 12:30 Saturday at the church.
Tom was born January 4, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant. He was the son of Thomas LeRoy and Hazel Marie (Gates) Lynchard. Tom attended Mt Pleasant High School. On June 4, 1971 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant, Tom was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Hamilton.
Tom started his working career at the Fine and Deep Rock Filling Stations in Mt. Pleasant. He also worked at the Lil' Duffer Restaurant and the Gibson Discount Store, both in Mt. Pleasant. For 37 years, Tom worked for the City of Mt. Pleasant. He worked for the Street Dept. and the Parks & Rec. Dept. Tom served for period of time as the Director of Parks Dept.
Tom was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church Tom was a very gifted wood worker and Finish Carpenter. He created and fashioned numerous pieces of furniture, primarily out of his favorite woods, walnut and oak. Tom enjoyed the outdoors in the activities of fishing and mushroom hunting. Tom held a deep love and desire to help people in nearly all situations, good and bad.
Those thankful for sharing in Tom's life include his wife of nearly 45 years, Barbara of Mt. Pleasant; a sister and her husband, Martha & Randy Settles of Mt. Pleasant; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and one great-great nephew. Also surviving are an untold number of furry and feathered creatures, including dogs, cats, bunnies, chickens and geese.
His parents and a nephew precede Tom in death.
