Ruth Isaacson Obituary

Ruth Leffler-Isaacson, 102, of Mt. Pleasant, IA and formerly of Stockport and Salem, IA, died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Park Place Elder Living in Mt. Pleasant.
A funeral service for Ruth Leffler-Isaacson will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 2 at the Salem Congregational Church, Salem, Iowa. The Reverend Aaron Helterbran will officiate. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery in Salem. Friends may call from 9:30 AM until service time at the church on Saturday. The Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant, is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be directed to www.kimzeyfuneralhome.com. Mrs. Leffler-Isaacson, the former Ruth Onawa McVey, was born October 23, 1913 in Salem, IA. She was the daughter of Forest L. and Elsie Elizabeth (Long) McVey. She received her education at Salem Schools. On May 21, 1931 in Mt. Pleasant, Ruth Married Otis Harold Leffler, who precedes in death. On January 15, 1980 in Memphis, MO, Ruth married Merrill Dale Isaacson. Mr. Isaacson died January 12, 1990.
For 10 years, Ruth was a cook at the Henry County Health Center. She tended to all the "farm wife" chores while raising her family on the farm, as well as many of the farm chores as well. In later years, she also worked at the Senior Meal Site in Stockport.
Ruth was a member of the Stockport Christian Church and attended the Salem Congregational Church after moving to Salem. She later moved to Sunnybrook at Ashford Park and then to Park Place Elder Living.
Those thankful for sharing in Ruth's life include 2 sons - Ronald Leffler of Fulton, IL and Kenneth Leffler and his wife Linda of Huachuca City, AZ; 2 step daughters - Carolyn Church and her husband Walter of Salem and Jane Williams of Ottumwa; 7 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and a host of great and step-great grandchildren.
Her parents, 2 brothers - Kenneth and Raymond McVey, 2 sisters - Grace McDowell and Leoda Holland, a grandchild and a step grandson precede Ruth in death.
