Mayme A. Holaday, 95, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at her residence.
A funeral service for Mayme Holaday will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, May 13th at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. The Reverend David Plooster, Chaplain, Great River Health Systems Klein Center, will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday. According to Mrs. Holaday's wishes, her casket will remain closed.

Mrs. Holaday, the former Mayme Alice Kilburn, was born March 8, 1920 in Mt. Pleasant. She was the daughter of George and Alice (Loder) Kilburn. She attend school in Mt. Pleasant. On February 8, 1947 in Davenport, Iowa, Mayme was united in marriage to Lester Holaday. Lester preceded Mayme in death on October 28, 1976.
Mrs. Holaday worked at Hoaglin's variety Story, the Mt. Pleasant Cleaners and Crowl's cleaners in Mt. Pleasant. For 3 and one-half years during World War II, Mayme was employed at the IAAP in Middletown.
Since age 10, Mayme had been a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Robert Tribby Post 28 of Mt. Pleasant. In her spare time, Mayme enjoyed baking, gardening and canning. Most especially of all, she loved to spend time with her family.
Those thankful for sharing in Mayme's life include her 3 children - Joan Dougherty, Judy Timberlake and her husband Al and Jim Holaday, all of Mt. Pleasant; 1 granddaughter, 3 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson, all of Burlington.
In addition to her parents and husband, 2 brothers - Clarence and Loren Kilburn, 2 sisters - Edith Godwin and Opal Forbes, 4 nieces, 1 nephew and 1 great nephew precede her in death.
