Martha Woodsmall, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington, IA.
A funeral service for Martha will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. Pastor Kenneth Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Burge Cemetery, New London, IA. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. The family will be present to receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
Those considering an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Stoney Hollow of the Great River Klein Center.
Mrs. Woodsmall, the former Martha Hepker, was born August 16, 1931 in Davis County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Raymond and Alta Mae (nee Stufflebeam) Hepker. She moved to Mt. Pleasant as a child and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1949. On June 16, 1951 in Mt. Pleasant, Martha was united in marriage to William Wesley Woodsmall. M. Woodsmall died December 10, 1978 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Martha began her working career at several restaurants in Mt. Pleasant. She then worked for Davis Paint in Mt. Pleasant. For several years, she was a sales clerk at the former Montgomery Wards store in Mt. Pleasant. She then took a job in the Housekeeping Department of Henry County Health Center. She retired from there in 1997.
Mrs. Woodsmall was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Mt. Pleasant. For many years, Martha was involved in refurbishing and refinishing houses. She played the piano and enjoyed crocheting.

Pleasant and Becky & Kyle Carriker of Ottumwa; 3 grandchildren & their spouses - Crystal & Todd Longhurst and Kimberly & Billy Kerr, all of Mt. Pleasant and Michael & Jennifer Carriker of Hedrick, IA; 6 great grandchildren - Braydon & Kalyssa Longhurst, Timothy & Gavin Kerr and Isaac & Ash Carriker; 2 brothers and their wives - Lloyd & Joanne Hepker of Kirksville, MO and Jack & Betty Hepker of Rock Falls, IL; 1 sister and her husband, Grace & Bert Johnson of Des Moines, IA; 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lanore Hepker of Nixa, MO and Iris Van Doran of Bloomfield, IA.
Her parents, husband, 3 brothers - Richard, Loyal & Boyd Hepker and 2 sisters - Dorothy Glover & Goldie Glazier precede Martha in death.
