Loretta Hite Obituary
Loretta M. (Mrs. Gerald) Hite, 88, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at her residence.
A memorial funeral service for Mrs. Hite will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, September 1 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. Pastor Jeffrey A. McPheron of the Trenton United Methodist Church will officiate. A private family burial will occur at Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present to receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of the service.

Mrs. Hite, the former Loretta Mae Kerfus, was born May 17, 1927 in Mount Pleasant. She was the daughter of Linus Joseph and Ruby Marie (Remick) Kerfus. She attended school in Mt. Pleasant. On Nov. 3, 1944 in Ottumwa, IA, Loretta was united in marriage to Gerald G. Hite. Mr. Hite died June 24, 1987.
For 19 years, Loretta was employed at the former Sylvania Corp. in West Burlington, producing picture tubes for television sets. When there came a company-wide lay-off, Mrs. Hite retired from Sylvania. She and her husband purchased a farm south of Lockridge in 1972 and farmed together there until moving back to Mt. Pleasant in 1976.
Loretta spent her spare time crocheting, quilting and embroidering. For a number of years, she did some cooking for the Moose Club and worked in the kitchen at the church for the Faith Lutheran Tent at Midwest Old Threshers.
Those thankful for sharing in Loretta's life include her 3 children and their spouses - Larry & Terry Hite of Mount Pleasant, Sheryl & Donald McDonell of Coggon, IA and Rex & Marilyn Hite of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Her parents, husband and a sister, Doris Jean Welcher precede Loretta in death.
