Damien Craig, 64, of Fairfield, died Saturday, April 01, 2017 at his residence.
A memorial funeral service for Damien Craig will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 5 at the Faith Christian Outreach Church, 1302 East Washington Street, Mt. Pleasant. Pastor Monte Knudsen will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no visitation at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, which is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the family for decisions to be made at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.kimzeyfuneralhome.com.
Damien was bornMay 13, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant. He was the son of D. Gordon and Marie Dorothea (Wolfe) Craig. He attended school in Mt. Pleasant. On July 28, 1978 in Illinois, Damien was united in marriage to Sarah Mae Larson.
For 42 years, Damien worked as a molder for Falco of Fairfield, an aluminum casting company.
Damien attended the Faith Christian Outreach Church. He loved to fish and camp, most especially on the Skunk River. It was there to he enjoyed the practice known as "noodling" - catching fish bare handed. He enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting. He liked baseball, and enjoyed both the aspects of playing and coaching the game. Damien kept a keen eye out for garage sales and enjoyed browsing through the wares. Damien was also an instructor in Tae-Kwon-Do, and held a 4th Degree Blackbelt in the sport.
Those thankful for sharing in Damien's life include his wife Sarah of Fairfield; 2 children - Dorothea "Dottie" Simmons and her husband Nathan of Mt. Pleasant and Everett Craig of Fairfield; 2 brothers - Mark Craig of Oshkosh, WI and J.P. Craig of Mt. Pleasant; 4 grandchildren - Riley, Col and Erich Simmons and Morgan Craig; his Mother-in-Law, Dolores Camlin; 3 brothers-in-law and 1 sister-in-law as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
His parents and 13 brothers and sisters precede Damien in death.
