Cecile H. Abraham, 94, of Arizona City, AZ, and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Fairfield and Van Buren County, Iowa, died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at her residence in Arizona City.
A memorial funeral service for Mrs. Abraham will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant. The Reverend Deborah J. Stowers, Senior Pastor, First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant, will officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the memorial service on Wednesday.

Mrs. Abraham, the former Cecile Henrietta Carnahan, was born April 10, 1923 in Bonaparte, IA. She was the daughter of George Wilbur and Edith Ethel (Earhart) Carnahan. On August 28, 1960 in Grand Rapids, MI, Cecile was united in marriage to Howard John Abraham. Mr. Abraham died Wednesday, December 21, 1994 at their residence in Fairfield.
Mrs. Abraham served two term as the Van Buren County Recorder in Keosauqua. For 15 years, Cecile was the Circulation Manager of the Mt. Pleasant News. She was also involved in the linotype operation of the newspaper. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Challen Accounting in Mt. Pleasant. While living in Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Abraham was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She had also been a member and Past Worthy Matron of the former Order of the Eastern Star, Bethlehem Chapter #38 of Mt. Pleasant.
Survivors include a grandson, Thomas Ross of North Liberty, IA.; a step son, Steven Abraham of Texas and a step daughter and her husband, Linda and James Davis of Keosauqua.
Her parents, husband, a son - R. Bruce Ross, a step son, John Abraham and a sister, Elis Huff, precede Cecile in death.
